It's simple advice but hard to...Great comments! It's simple advice but hard to follow. I came across Kerouac's Essentials of Spontaneous Prose a year or two ago and they helped me to get my first novel written. I'd been grappling with this "great" novel for years, gradually losing any sense of joy or excitement or genuine enthusiasm, and inspired by Kerouac's advice I decided to just type for a month and see what I ended up with.
